question

what is permanant 4 wheel drive it is sposly standard on all 1995 ext models thanks fordguy101

All Wheel Drive was available as an option from 1990 until the Aerostar's demise in 1997. I believe it was available on both the short wheel base and long wheel base Aerostars. It was powered by a viscous coupling that changes the percentage of driving power from 70/30 rear/front to 50/50 rear/ front based on the difference in speed detected between the front and rear wheels. AWD came with the 4.0L engine.

No it is not standard on the EXT models.

I have a 96 Aerostar and I remember it was an option but I opted for RWD.

AFAIK, the wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheel centerlines) is identical on all Aerostars. The long ones ("extended") merely have more rear axle overhang.
