Roof caulking

When I was painting my 79, that rail seam caulking got to be a real mess for me. I picked up some seam caulk at my auto paint supplier they said would work for me, one in a toothpaste style tube. I think I paid 8 bucks for it. After applying my base /clear to it, the caulk started coming loose. Wow, what a mess to re-do that was. So, I went back, paid the 35 bucks for the double barreled two part self leveling epoxy seam sealer that takes the special caulk gun to apply. ( I just borrowed the gun, I was buying all my paint from them anyway, so they loaned me the epoxy caulk gun just for overnight) Expensive, but worth it because it laid out smooth, bonded well , and the bc/cc stuck well to it. When applying it , one has to put in on slow, so it wont overfill and run, because you cant touch it to straighten it up. When it levels out , what you see is what you get for final finish. Cheap seam sealers can be disastrous for a new paint job later on. jmo
