fixing a bed! with wood?
the 65 f100 my freind has, has one messed up box. most all of the floor is completely rusted out. the front drivers side is completely seperated to the point that you can lift up the outer skin about a foot. but the thing is, is that the outer skin is perfectly intact and straight. i know he wants a wooden floor in it, so i suggested and we began talking about about getting the support that run across to support the sides. and then fasten the boards to them and install the steel straps that cover the edges of the boards. plus this would allow us to install the fuel door for a relocated gas tank. what do you guys think?

They used to have wood, and some trailers have wood. I would check the construction of an old truck with wood and see if there is any more reinforcing needed. Use stainless fasteners. Seal the wood on all sides and ends before you install. Good luck with it.
