I took my 05 350 cc lwb psd, 2700 miles, in yesterday. Luckily, I have a friend who is a service manager at a local dealership. They got it right in and looked at it. They found that injector 2 wasn't firing. When they went in to replace the injector, they found the rocker arm had shattered and the ball bearings it rests on were nowhere to be found. He was waiting on the compression test today and has been talking with Ford. He recommended to them that they replace the motor, we'll see what Ford says. I'm going to demand they replace the motor just so I don't have to keep going back to the dealer so they can replace it piece by piece. 40+ thousand dollars and this is the quality you get. I haven't even begun breaking in this motor. Luckily, this service department is great. I took my truck in and 20 minutes later I was driving away in an 05 Mustang loner car. Better than a Taurus, but still not my truck. We'll see what happens tomorrow. BTW, I traded in a 2000 250, v10 cc swb. The only problem I EVER had with it was a bad starter solonoid. $10.00.
I personally understand you displeasure with the truck. However material failure happens in all areas of manufacturing…..IMO this is one of those situation. They will replace the motor and you will be good to go. Keep us updated.

I had a bearing fail in an idler pully at 4000 miles that made the belt shatter when I was driving down the road. It is not as bad as yours but like Tim said, parts fail. I am sure that the bearing probably was just faulty to begin with from the manufacturer and it probably was not even Ford that made the part that failed to begin with.
Wait till you see them replace the engine, and pull the cab off the frame...
Now that's a sight I don't expect at a dealeship. At the factory yes, but not at a dealer service department.
Having a friend at the dealer is great. We should all have a few. We are paying their salaries ya know. Just like Tim and Jasfaa said, there's component failure possibilities in anything. Unfortunately those roller bearings in the rocker arms can be detramental to the rest of the engine. You'e looking at a $15 part that can ruin a $6,000 engine. That solenoid for the V10 just happened to be outside the engine..
I just talked to the dealer. Today another guy brought in his 05 psd with the same problem. They're still waiting on the compression tests. I know mechanical failures happen, I was just venting. I can't wait to drive that Mustang in the snow we're supposed to get.
My 05 (2K miles) had to have the rear diff. built.. Lost a side carrier bearing and they replaced everything including ring and pinion.. The trans inline filter was also full of metal and the trans was built as well.. The trans along with the rear end was growling/clunking.. Especially between the 2-3 upshift.. Took 24 days to get it back.. Now, after about five days the 2-3 upshift clunk has returned, only not as loud, and is totally gone when warmed.. This 05 was a 'upgrade' from my 03/6.0 !! I really like Ford products, and work on'm for a living in fleet applications, but none of our earlier S/D's had/have given me so much of a headache as the new 6.0/5R110.. Both 03 and 05..
Hate to say it, but there ya go..
I hope everyone gets a good truck, Really do.. AND, I thought Ford had sharpened the pencil on the engineering/new builds, but after only 2K miles I'm loosing my confidence as was the case with the 03..
