Question Recall ???

I came into work tonight and one of the dispatchers I was replacing, said he heard on the news something about a recall by Ford on some of the F-series. Had to due with the speed control and the chance of it catching fire. Anyone catch this story?
Please disregard this, I just read another thread about this and it's on the 2000 era F-150's. Sorry about that.

If I read Ford's statement on the recall, I'm left with the impression that my '05 F150 SCAB is not part of the recall. Is this correct?

That's right, it was for quite a few 2000 vehicles and some 2001 F-series SCrew's.

My buddy used to have a 2000 F150 but yuppppp it caught fire just about burnt down the house with them in it. If you own a 1997 or 2000 F150 Sell it NOW! No questions asked just get rid of it. His Cruise Control shorted out and the vapor's from the transmission oil caused the EXPLOSION - that's the story the Fire Department said and was confirmed by Ford and Investigators. His truck had been parked outside in the driveway over 6 hours prior to the incident.

The Ford F-150 is a time bomb waiting to happen

I'd be very concerned. Is the switch still the same in the later model trucks?
On the news they showed this guys house that burned up and he had a big sign in front of the garage remains that said "The Ford F-150 is a time bomb waiting to happen"

I'd take the insurance money buy a new truck, build a new house replace the crap that burned up and move on with my life. The percentages are higher that one of your children will be born with a birth defect or die in the first year than your truck burning.

What if you are not alive to collect the insurance money?
Or
What if a loved one dies in the incident?

I am happy I have a 2004 and hopefully they had the Cruise Control problem fixed by then LOL!

You know what I notice though that whenever any other auto maker has a recall its never as scrutinized or as heavy broadcasted as Ford's. I know all media coverage is biased to some degree but for example in the past 2 weeks I have read 2 recalls on Yahoo about Chevrolet recalling the Silverado, Tahoe & Suburban for something that can cause fires. The same thing with Honda. About a month ago the news did a small segment about the company recalling Accords & Civics because of fires happening to their engines. Yahoo reported that the all the recent recalls against Chevrolet have hurt them because they have been advertising a better built product and the recalls contradict their slogans. Maybe the coverage is different in other areas of the country but down here it seems like they never let go of Ford recalls but barely even touch other ones by rival auto makers. Then again everyone wants to see the dynasty fall kind of like rooting for the underdog in a big game. Ford has the 2 biggest bragging rights with the F-150 & the Explorer and staining their name is the best way to get ratings in that particular topic I guess.

If I was dead then I really wouldn't care I'd be dead. If a loved one died in the incident then I'd do like I said before I'd take the insurance money buy a new truck, build a new house replace the crap that burned up and move on with my life. Crap happens to people everyday, I'm certainly not going stay up worrying about "what if's" all the time. Like the Eagles song Get Over It.
