I have beat my brains out over and over trying to figure out what colors are what coming out of my stock stereo. I have a 1998 Ford F150 Lariat, with the six disc changer and autoset button. Its an automatic transmission. I have been on numerous sites, 12volt.com, installdr. and every single diagram is wrong. I am just looking for the rear speakers and thats its. there is no purple with black wire, there is a green and green and black and I chopped that wire but the rear speakers were still working. I need some help. PLEASE
This is what i did for my father in law. if they make a wiring harness to hook up an aftermarket stereo to your truck you can go buy the harness (usually $10-15) and plug it into the harness in the truck. The wires on the bought harness will be labeled front, rear, and so on. so all you need to do is see what wire comes out the other side (the factory wires side) of the harness from the wires that are labeled on the wiring harness. Or maybe you could take the back speakers out and see what color wires run to them and they should be the same colors all the way up to the stereo.
(i'm color blind so I can't tell you what colors they are)
left to right the 8 wires are
left front + , left front - , left rear + , left rear - , right front + , right front - , right rear + , right rear - .
hope this helps.
I am trying to install the 6 disc changer from my 04 F-150 (with audiophile) into my 05 PSD XLT. I changed the mounting brackets and installed the radio/cd player, removed the tray behind the SC back seat and installed the sub-woofer and now need to figure out how in the heck I am going to wire it up...or if it is even worth it? I am looking for the diagrams from the 04 F-150 so I can use the connectors I have and run new wires back to the sub. Can anyone point me in the right direction..diagrams?
