I have a '96 F-150. I removed the factory stereo and bought a wiring harness that was supposed to make my job easy. The guy sold me the wrong harness and I can't get back. The speaker wires leaving the stereo aren't the same color when they reach the speakers. I have no idea which speaker wires go to which speakers. The colors leaving the stereo are: Light Blue, Purple/White, Brown, White/Red, Light Green, White/Orange, Light Blue/Black, Yellow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I really appreciate the information. What I didn't realize is that I did have a premium sound system in my truck. What I didn't realize is that I shouldn't have cut the wires. I decided to buy new speaker wires and rewire the whole system. I just finished and it sounds great. lol Thanks again for the info. I know where to come when I have problems in the future. I just found this site today.
I also have a wiring problem.I have a 03 harley and i have looked everywhere including the site u listed ...I would love to know which is positive and negitive at all four corners of this system. I would hate to toast the speakers..... Dbl G
Dbl G,
Wiring colors for the rear speakers are left side, tan/yellow (positive), gray/light blue (negative). Right side, orange/red (positive), brown/pink (negative).
Also, if you get the pos and neg mixed, it will not "toast" the speakers, it will only cause phasing problems, and most likely you'll never notice.
Thanks for the fast reply...There is a tan /yellow at the rear left however the apposing wires are green/red, I havent had the time to rip in to the rest .I have had little luck looking elsewhere as far as a correct color combo,I wonder if the ground designation may have remained the same?Toast, not really just driven backwards..i.e. Phasing
The new trick is... I was told and it works (as seen on t.v.) not. Yes it does work take a 1.5 volt battery (AA) touch one wire from the non-marked speaker to the negitive end - of the battery and the other wire to the hot end + and the speaker will move in or out depeneding on which end you touched the negitive or hot too. You want the speaker to move out, reverse the battery until this happens. Then you will have the hot and cold of things......i.e. Postive+ and Negitive - should be the same as the battery...
I’m trying to put a new stereo in my 1998 Expedition. The current 16 pin wiring harness has wire colors that match nothing I can find online. My new radio has a 12 pin set up. Can anyone tell me what the wires are that I need to connect the new harness to? I was able to get the constant, switch and ground connections made.
