I have a long & painful story so I'll just jump to the end. I'm trying to buy a new F-150 4x4 Super-cab with an eight foot bed from a local Ford dealer. It appears that Ford doesn't like to build that truck so they pile on all of these requirements. The truck ends up having 17" 7-lug rims. I'm not impressed with the one rim choice that Ford's giving me.
Does anyone know anything about 7-lug rims? Does anyone make after-market 7-lug rims? I can't seem to find any information on them.

We are pleased you have chosen the best source for Fords!
I have the same truck you're looking at. The rims are a problem, although there are a few company's that make nice 7 lug rims. Do a search in the forums for "7 lug" and you'll find the answer.
I too have the HD truck with the 7-lug wheels. I searched for quite some time and found weld racing makes a 17" wheel with 7-lugs. Looks better than stock at least. One last thing, dont even look at any 16" wheels as they wont fit.
This is an example of "bean counters" designing trucks ! Just think of all the money they saved Ford by only useing 7 lugs instead of 8 on all those trucks !
I don't think it was "bean counting". I think Ford tried to come as close as they could to a 3/4 ton truck without losing F250 customers to the F150.
I went to KBB.com and compared our HD F150 to 3/4 ton trucks by Chevy, Dodge and even Ford and our rig is just as good or better in all areas except max towing capacity.
Problem Solved. I decided to buy a 2005 F-250 Diesel 4x4 Lariat . No more 7 lug rims to deal with.
Smart move ! My brother has a '97 ( I think ) with those 7 lug rims , one of them cracked ( aluminium ) and he had a heck of a time finding a used wheel , he finally had it welded and so far so good . Congradulatios on the new truck !
