ok my stupid starter bolts keep coming loose and the starter will grind against the flywheel and i will have to tighten the bolts again. the bottom starter bolt goes tight but the top one seems to be stripped and doesnt tighten all the way. was thinking of putting a bolt that was like 1" longer in there, anyone know what size bolt is on the top? im thinking its a m10x 1.5 just looking at it. 85 f250 351w.
yeah i know i can take it up to the store but that requires that i go under the vehicle and remove the bolt while im AT the store since its my only vehicle insured right now. just thought someone might have it handy so i could have my dad pick it up at work, he works at a nut and bolt factory and can get them free, i cant just give him the bolt and then have no vehicle for a day. oh well ill see if i can find a match in my tool box it just sucks having to remove it, put it back in then remove it again to put the new one in.
blue is the loctite color the bolt is a 5/16 NC about 1 3/4" long use if it is a through hole you should be able to nut it use a nyloc nut and flat washer take a tape measure or a ruler slide under the truck measure the thickness of the starter and bellhousing should only take a few seconds do it in the lot at the hardware store
