I got a 96 f 150 302. I currently have magnaflow from the cats back. My question is will I get much more power if I get rid of my cats and replace them either with high flow or straight pipe. Also will either throw my computer off. Will I get a light or code from doing this. I live in an area that does not have emission tests. Any input appreciated....
Great Question, I am in the process of deciding what to do on my 4.6L 2000 F150. I was wondering how many sensors are on the ex system and if I needed to replace them on the new system. Have you ever heard of melotone mufflers and if so what they sound like?
I just looked at my rear cat and the pipe where I would cut it is not exactly round but egg shape like. I am wondering what a person would do for a pipe to fit on it. Or is it rounder than it looks. My front cat has 2 pipes going in it and looks too stressfull to remove so I am thinking of only removing the rear one.... has anyone done this and is it the main cat or is the front one more restrictive. Anyway should I just leave it or will it be worth the effort to remove it. Also there is a sensor in the pipe just before the second cat I would cut it so the sensor stays in place will it be affected by removal of this cat? If anyone knows please let me know.....
Kymber I have not heard of that sorry I cant help...
I think it's a little selfish to want to pollute the air more, just to make slightly more power. If you think your cats are bad, then replace them with some high flow cats. If you ever went to Mexico City, you would know where I'm coming from. We can breath much better in this country, because of the cats on our vehicles.
Tell that to my 67 fairlane 79 f 150 and 73 pinto with a 302 4 speed...... I think thats a little more pollution than 1 cat....... Have you been to an industrial area , now theres pollution.... I live close to a power plant that burns coal to generate power and they do not care if I breath easier....... Look around and see the big picture.... Maybe you should read the whole post before commenting I believe it says high flow cats as an option...
I think you have 2 O2 sensors. One before the First cat and one after that same cat. If you remove your cat, remove the second one and just dont touch those sensors or the Air Injection pipe down there.
