I have a battery that wasn't used or charged for quite a while. (my main battery charger is broken) But I found my old (1A) charger, and figured that in a few days I can charge the battery up. Initially, I measured about 5.5V on the battery, that went up to almost 16V after I connected the charger, then quickly dropped to about 8V (as the oxide layer broke, and charging began, I guess). After almost a day of charging, a couple of hours ago I measured only 10.35V on the battery, low enough to make me wonder about a shorted cell. Then I measured it a little later -- 10.45V, @700 mA, so figured it might take a while, but it's making progress. Then I measured it again a few minutes ago -- 8.44V!!
Any idea what's going on? The charger is ON, cranking out over 800 mA ATM (almost too hot to touch) and I double checked my measurements and the charger.
