Post Throttle Body Spacer

Looking for some input (pro or con) about installing a throttle body space in a 02' F250 7.3L.

I tried one when my truck was stock (with no gauges) and saw little, if any, improvements. I recently installed it to see if there might be some improvement with the mods I have done. I have noticed a louder whistle (similar to adding the wicked wheel) from the turbo at lower rpms. The gauges show no improvement of boost or reduction of EGTs. I had been running my truck with the SCMT on 60hp stacked with the 10k. I am currently running it without the 10k, and seeing an improvement in fuel mileage. I am going to try this combo for a few tanks to see if there is a definite difference.

I'm with Jake, the 7.3 PSD does not have a throttle body, so where are you putting a spacer? If you want real performance, I've got some split fire spark plugs and a MSD distributor that I'll make you a great deal on though.

Sorry RougeDoc, just my lame attempt at making a joke, wasn't trying to spank you. To answer your question, the spacer is a scam that has appeared online and even in performance magazine advertisements. Stay away from them. I would suggest if you want to modify, go with a new intake, exhaust, gauges and a chip. You can also do some very inexpensive stuff like the 10k, hotfoot, fpr shim, Kwik filter, etc... Check out some of the tricks at http://pages.prodigy.net/stevebaz/index.html and search this site for all kinds of info. Don't be afraid to ask questions, the only stupid question is the one not asked and there is a ton of knowledge to be found here. Good luck and welcome to FTE!

Motorhaven, our sponsor site, sells these spacers. I would like to know their input on this subject.

ME TOO! I'd like them to explain where the throttle body is on a PSD.

Mueckster, you said you tried one on your truck. Where did you put it? The ones I looked at look like they go on the intake before the turbo which is not a TB spacer, but that's what they call it. I don't see how a spacer there with a "Helix" effect would do any good at all. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone have any input? Check out the website at http://www.airaidsales.com/www/Power...e-P229C32.aspx.

"The additional height combined with the patented Helix Bore creates a turbulent airflow that greatly improves fuel atomization."

Yeah, right! How can "swirling" the air have ANY effect on an engine that utilizes direct fuel injection? The only thing that is going to "improve fuel atomization" on a PSD would be the injectors themselves!

Seeing that there is no throttle body to raise, I would be hard pressed to say exactly where it does go! Maybe in the trash? Just a guess!

Max, no you are right. Even if this device worked as it claimed to and "swirled" the air into a "helix" effect, the minute it hit the compression blades on the turbo it would just get all "cut up" again and your "helical air" would be all gone! Just another piece of solid snake oil.
