i have a 91 ford explorer 4.OL in my 89 ranger, i was wondering if anyone has put a EGR valve in them before my check engine light was on and it told me i needed one so i went and bought one and after finally tracking one down, i had never seen that part on it before considering i put the motor in, no one knew where it goes and i'm about to take my intake manifold off and look under there, does anyone know where this might be before i tear my engine apart??? and on top of that the hayes manual that i have tells me i don't have one??? what to do what to do...

'91 4.0 didn't come with an EGR system. Unless you've added and EGR system to it (which would require a '93 or '94 computer), you don't have one.
Your computer is giving you an EGR code? What year/engine is your computer for?
my computer is also a 91 it was all out of the same veicle the only thing that wasn't the same is the dash harness because the veicle i took it out of had a dash fire so i had to get a new one
There was no EGR valve on the 4.0L engine until '93-'94 starting in California. So you shouldn't be getting any EGR-related codes. What code number was it that pointed you to the EGR valve?
In any case, I wouldn't sweat it too much, if an EGR code remains, I'd simply ignore it.
