f-650 wiring problem

f-650 wiring problem

i have a 2000 F-650 that had a major wirring melt down under the dash. My local dealership has told me they have to get a wirring harness custom made for under the dash. Does this sound right? Has anyone else had this problem?

How major is your 'meltdown'? I had a connector melt on me last October. Ford wanted $900+ for a complete new wiring harness due to the fact that they no longer sell just the connectors.

"You want just the connector? Here's the whole freakin wiring harness!"

That is the same problem i am having. My dealership told me that they no longer make the harness and have to make one from scratch $560. total cost with labor $1880.

You've got the same problem with the headlights??

My shop told me I could either buy the new harness, or plunder the local junkyards for a connector that ended up costing me around $25 bucks!

What melted under the dash??

F-750 wiring problem

I had the same problem with my 2000 F-750. I finally gave up on ford and since it has a caterpillar engine, I took it to the Cat Dealer who fixed it for about $600. No problems since.
