On my 1990 Big Bronco, With the TCase in 4x4, my front driveshaft spins, the front axle spins, but the wheels don't. Driving this way is very noisy. Am I correct in guessing its the the hubs. How hard is it to replace the auto locking ones with manuals. How do I do it?
yep sounds like the hubs to me, replacing them is simple buy the hubs from your local parts store, take the old ones out, and put the new onex in nothin to it just like when you remove them to repack the wheel bearings.
the conversion is alittle more complicated then it seems....i am doing the same thing to my truck right now..i bought WARN Premium Lockers and in order to get the automatic hubs out you need the "Special" socket other then that yea its just like replacing ball joints
special socket? Ball joints? huh what are you working on? in order to get the hubs out you should need an allen wrench, and a way to remove the two snap rings. You only need the special socket to get to the bearings if you are repacking, or replacing them, but not to replace the hubs.

this is true.... the spanner socket is used to get the bearing lock rings out which holds the hub/rotor assembly in. i highly suggest you go in and re-grease the bearings though. it never hurts. other than that hubs are very easy.
