i just finished the 360-460 swap in my 76 F-250. to be honest i don't think i would do it again. I'm not sure all the extra effort and money was worth the little power benefit of a strong 390 vs a similar built 460. i would use the extra money needed for the swap and used it in the existing motor and maybe do some other things the truck needed.
Well Ford78460, I'll have to check shipping then I'll get back to ya, I'm in the process of getting a job but I have some spare change so I might be able to squeeze somethin out. Thanks!
So to check the shipping I need an address and weight (approx). If you don't want to give me the address that's cool. Or if you know a better site please let me know, the one I went to was like Discount Freight. Thanks!
Sorry Ford7860, I don't think I can manage that one. The site I got a quote from wanted somewhere around $350 to ship. If you know a better place or a better price please let me know. Thanks!
welcome! this is your first thread hijack! i gotta question, why do you keep suggesting a 250 engine, i have always known that the truck engines were beefier, or are the f150's car engines?
Hmmm, not real sure what ya mean.... I just wanted a 390 instead of a 351 or a 302. I was thinking about a 302 until I read about it and it seems like they don't have enough power for what I'm lookin for. Hope that helps! Thanks!
The reason for an F250 engine, is that 390's weren't offered in F100's or F150's. Since the car 390's were probably picked over long ago, the F250 is the most likely candidate to find a good rebuildable 390.
was it just 390's was was not in f100's or 360's too? cause i have seen some that had 360's and apperared to be factory.
you might want to try auctions, we have a decent sized monthly one here. my highboy was only 400 bucks (its fairly beat up) i would especially look for ones that dont have title's, nobody wants em because of that, and they might be good parts trucks.
