Does anyone have an idea of the going price for a floor shifted 3-speed trans out of a 50 F1 I have one for sale, dont want to ask too much or give it away, any help appreaciated
Go to eBay and enter "ford transmission 3 speed" in the search box. You'll find transmissions for 50's trucks and cars going for anywhere from $1 to over $50. Remember that the shipping for these heavy items is going to be a big part of the cost to a buyer - whether you sell it on-line or not.
I don't mean to be a downer, but it's sometimes hard to give away engines or transmissions - unless they are rebuilt and guaranteed, or you find somebody that's close by and can save the shipping.
Now, if you had some F-250 running boards, fenders, or bed sheet metal in good condition, you could certainly find a buyer as they are little more rare.
Well if it's the H.D. 3 Spd. it will make a good boat anchor. L.D. might do just a little better but you'll be lucky to finance a cheap dinner out for two.
I just watched a most sought after period 3 Spd. Overdive go for $65.00 here in Tucson. Granted I thought that was alittle low and wish I had found it a day earlier, I've seen them go for $140.00 on E-bay.
Offer to give it to some hopefull unfortunate, the karma will be more valuable than the paultry sum your likely to get.
I'd agree with Deuced. If you know of any local folks into these old treasures, you may be able to trade the tranny for something they have that you need. Also, and this is just MHO, just because you hear of some people willing to pay big dollars for something, would you want to ask that for your part? Most of us old Ford-obsessed kooks have other uses for our precious dollars than just our bucket of bolts. It's nice to know that others who may have what we need don't want to bankrupt us to get it. Again, just my .02.
Donate it to "the cause" if you're not going to use it. I've recieved lots of Diet Pepsi's in the process of getting rid of the stuff I don't need. Plus I know I've helped at least 3 old Fords get closer to being back on the road. Who can put a price on that?
