need new steering linkage?

my truck is a 97 crewcab f250, and it has been driving kinda erractic lately, i looked at the steering linkage and al the ball joints are worn, so i need to replace them. ford quoted me 400 dollars, no way am i gonna pay that. how hard is it to replace all the linkage at once? also what are the exact names of the parts i need?

i know i will need an alignment afterwards, but i need one anyways now, so i figure i will change out everything then do the alignment. thanks

To determine what a front ends one must inspect it, unless you want to replace everything. On my 95 4x4, it cost me about 250 bucks for all the tie rods. No half decent shop will align a vehicle with worn parts either. The labour is the brutal cost of front end work, particularly the ball joints. This is one reason i like being a mechanic, i get free labour!

YES!!! And $400.00 is a pretty good price for doing all four ball joints.

I checked with Snap-on.com and they want $623.00 for a ball joint press.
