Hey There Everyone! I'm new to these here boards and I got a question. I have a 91 Silver Anniversary edition bronco. I smoked the E40D out of it last 4th of July wheelin like a mad man. Now I figure it's time to get her up and running again. I want to go with a manual tranny for sure possibly an NP435 Granny low 4spd. Anyone know what is involved in this swap? I'm currently looking for the parts to make this thing go. I'm not sure what i will need to adapt something like that to the 5.0L motor and the transfer case. Any ideas, suggestions, comments, warnings, or sarcastic taunting ridicule would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I too have the 91 Silver Anniversary Edition, and blew my tranny a year ago, I had the same thoughts as you, but opted to keep the automatic only because I am gonna restore this rig to its original beauty. It will be a collectors item some day, and I don't want to change any thing from factory.
As far as your request goes, you will have better responses if you go to the transmission forum and post your request there. Although I am sure the guys here will lend their knowledge to you if they have done it. Good Luck!!
Hey guys, how about sending my the vins of your silver anniversaries? I'm trying to start a registry. I have been unsuccessfull in finding out the production numbers on these.
Here's a link to a site I created for the 1991 Silver Anniversary Bronco.
Well, guess I can't post links...
Just search for Bronco silver anniversary, and it should be one of the first sites.
Did a search on Google and Altavista and came up with nothing new that I could tell. If you can't post the web site yet, ( I can't see why? Your a freshman user) just type it manually here....
even though the np435 is a great tranny i suggest you go with a zf 5 speed. it also has the granny 1st gear but with overdrive and is a good strong tranny. you kind find these in most f250's 350s that are newer then your bronco. do a search for zf swap its been done a lot already
