2003 PSD...after a 15 qt oil change and running the motor to fill the filter, where should the oil level be after setting on the level overnight? Top of the hash marks, middle or just where?
Reason I ask is I'm leaving on a trip pulling a trailer and I'm not ready for an oil change till I get back and with this CRS diease I have, LOL can't remember where full is on the stick. Also does anyone know how many qts are in the hash mark area? Thanks
I beleive the top of the marks is full. I think bottom of the marks is 2 quarts down, but you can check that next oil change.
P.S. What's up with the new ads in the threads?
It's not a bad idea to fill the filter before you put it on the truck. It takes time for that huge filter to fill up. Even the hack quickie oil change places I used to trust my truck with thought it was important to do.

Thanks guys for the input. Checked it this morning and found it 1/2 up in the hash marks. Added 1 quart that will bring it to the top and then get on the putor and find out it is ok anywhere in the hash marks soooooo maybe I wasted a qt but better safe than sorry .
Leaving in the morning to go to the mountains to do the snowmobile thing and I am going to be pulling the enclosed 4 place trailer that when loaded, it weights in at about 8,000lbs. First time we have ever had a Diesel in the mountains so I guess we are going to see just how strong these motors are. Have the SuperChip on the tow safe mode so we will see if it gets us up and over the pass. This is the first time this truck will have pulled anything for me so it will be a new experience....used a V-10 gasser last year.
Altitude means nothing to a turbocharged engine. You will have the same amount of power at sea level as at 15,000 feet. You'll hardly be able to wipe the grin from your face as you cross over the pass.
Thanks Kwik for the vote of confidence! I'll have two guys riding in my pickup, one runs a V-10 and the other has a DuraMax so we will see if the "PowerStroke" will get them grinning . Will post a result of the trip when I get back Sunday....see ya
