Banks Power Pack Feedback

I installed the Banks Power Pack System 10 days ago. I am VERY satisfied with the system. The exhaust tone is deep and mellow.
Very liveable. It took me 22 hours for R/R. That was because I
also installed 4 Rancho shocks and the Banks Trans Command Unit.
I would strongly suggest installing the Trans Command. Shifts are more crisp and defined. Installation went with only minor difficulty connecting air pump pipe to header on passenger side. I didn't use any gaskets on the headers. Directions said not too unless the heads have a very uneven surface or heavily pitted. Banks Headers are Top Class to me. Flanges are .675 thick and machined flat. No chance to warp. Again I say, I was impressed.

I didn't see a need to chip my truck. It would require burning premimum fuel and gas is high enough already. My truck is like night and day now and I love it!!! Much more Torquey throughout the RPM range. I would suggest installing the system first and if you still feel the need to install a chip you can. I think you will be very impressed without the chip. I'm sure others have different opinions but I'm satisfied. If you chip your truck, you won't have to install the trans command more than likely. It modifies the shifting characteristics of the tranny so you won't need both.
In speaking with Banks Engineering I asked about using a high flow cat and he said it wasn't necessary. They spent many hours in development of the system and said the system is designed with the use of the stock Cat. A bolt up breeze. Directions on installing the system were very clear and precise. Another suggestion I would make is that if you haven't change your tranny filter and fluid, do so. The header crossover tube will be under the right front corner of pan bolts. About 3 or 4, so why not do it now before installing system. The tube won't block access of the bolts but why fight it later. Better to do maintenence now than later anyway. Make sure to drain Torque Converter also. It's a breeze too.
The only MOD I'm looking for now is a MAF conversion kit for my truck. Would like to get rid of the Speed Density setup and my efforts has been unsuccessful. If you hear of a MAF conversion kit for a 7.5 EFI let me know.

My truck is a 96 F-250HD 4x4, 460/E4OD 4.10

It is louder than stock... it sounds great without drowning out the stereo. Go light on the throttle in your neighbourhood and the neighbours probably won't notice. Drive it hard... it will be tempting... and they will notice.
I pulled my 28 foot fifth wheel through the Rockies and was able to do most hills in overdrive... Mine is the ZF, so I can't comment on the Trans Command.
As for the Cat... I took mine out when I put the Power Pack in. I just bought an extra part number ??? (the straight pipe about 40 inches long) had it cut to match the length of the cat and had a stub welded to it to take the air pump line. That way, I can reinstall the cat if I need to. I wasn't too concerned with emmisions here as I have been running propane anyway, and it is much cleaner burning. Propane is too expensive now... may have to put the cat back in. I'll be singing... "Thought it was a gonner, but, the cat came back!" Okay... so that was sick! LOL!

Long time no hear. Got a question 4 ya. Did you notice that the Ram Air Cover lettering was printed backwards on the cover? Or should I say was yours printed right. When facing the motor outside the vehicle, the New Ram Air Cover lettering was facing the driver. When I called Banks about it, they didn't even know about the printing error.
They have since contacted tooling and they are to make the correct change. So, I'll be waiting for the new cover. Just wanted to know if yours was correct or not? It should read BANKS RAM AIR when looking at the the cover from the front of the truck. Let me know.
BTW THECOPPERCOWBOY, have you had your CAT tested. You can have a back pressure test done at almost any muffler shop. I had my tested before installing the system. Fairly simple. They will drill a small hole 1/8 in the pipe before the cat and stick a probe in to check pressure. I'm not a Banks employee, but I should consider working for him over the summer and recoop some green............LOL. Quality Merchandise always seem to cost more than what we would like to pay!!
One more thing I did to my truck was install a MSD Coil. Other mod's coming soon.
