air bag

98 ranger dash light stays on no flashes.when new i disconnected it at the bag. broken neck in the past.didnt want it to hit me. now want to sell truck dicconnected battery to hook wire up to bag. now light stays on please help. thank you

When you first start the truck the A/B light should flash a code before it comes on steady. Count them and do a search in the fourm for other threads for the list of error codes.

the ab light does not flash any code. just stays on steady. ihave tryed it several times. turnkey with no start and also start eng.. this a 98 ranger 4.0 the bag was disconted for 4 years at the bag. hope you can help. hate to take it to dealer

Continuous (blinks no code)
RCM Disconnected or Inoperative, Loss of Battery Feed, or Loss of
Signal Ground

Sounds like a trip to the dealer.

im sorry dave the rcm disconnected you said it could be. does that rcm stand for recall memory.? [thank you]

The RCM is a module located behind the passenger side kick panel. It controls the AB system.

you were right dave the rcm is disconnected. its been 6 years ago i did it. but forgot about doing it. i will connect it tomorrow.have to go with wife.hope bag dont blow when put back on. any percautions to take? [thanks again]

Disconnect the battery for 2 mins, connect RCM and then reconnect the battery.
