Question Pick-N-Pull Yard or New?

What does everyone do when you need a simple part such as a mirror or bumper or whatever? do you go to the Pick-n-Pull yard or do you go to the auto parts store and buy it new?

depends on the aplication- I go to PnP mostly for fun, if I need the part right away or if it is a part that tends to wear out and be junk (ie radiator) but for other stuff I play it by ear. a lot of the time I just buy whatever seems logical ot good when I am there, regardless of if I need it right now or not.

All of them- but best selection I have seen is in:

Rancho Cordova

Fairfield

San jose yards

Oakland isn't bad

Basically I go to anywhere within 1.5-2 hours of Napa.

Found two steering boxes for F250 4x4 at the P&P in my neck of the woods. Bought one and left one there. Gonna use it for a power steering conversion for my 74. Also found a bell housing for a 400 4 speed. A buddy of mine is gonna use it for a 460 engine swap. Pick and Pull is always my first stop for reusable stuff. Water pumps, alternators etc, I go to NAPA.
Sometimes I'll go to P&P if I am board. My wife hates it cuz I usually will come home oily and broke. Too much fun.
