I've been toying with the idea of adding a switch to the wiper electrical system that will allow me to "bump" the wipers. Many times there isn't enough rain to warrant the 'low' wiper setting, and it's a pain (and a little dangerous depending on traffic) to reach down for the wiper swich every minute or so. I would like to just have a spring-loaded switch on the door panel that I could bump to clear the windshield. Has anyone tried this before? One problem I see is that if you cut off power before the wiper reaches the top of its travel, it stops. I realize that this could be remedied using a capacitor of the correct size, but that's starting to get a little to complicated for my electrical knowledge.

On my 86 I put such a switch. I put it in line with the wiper switch its self you would have to look at a wireing diagram but I wire mine so the auto park stilled worked. I also used a stock foot dimmer switch and drilled a hole but a cheap button horn would work. I used it to help clear mud when going down trails but needed it to saty on due to using a clutch.

Cool! Using a foot dimmer switch might be even better for me, since my truck's an automatic. Choices, choices...
If you wanna get the Ford intermittant wipers, Go to a junkyard and find a 83 up Ford XLT truck and reach behind the wiper switch and look for a little black box with 2 wiring pigtails comin out of it. Ya need the box and the switch, since the switch has the intermittant feature on it. You plug the box in between the switch and the wires goin to the motor itself. Make sure the box is mounted securely to prevent vibration which kills the diodes inside it. Also make sure the switch is grounded good. There's even a couple holes already drilled and threaded to mount the box on the metal frame thing behind the dashboard. This setup is stock lookin and plus you can change the speed of the motor from a wipe every 3 seconds to about 15 seconds.
