Bolt broke in the block screwing in the Bearing Cap

I was screwing in my bearing caps on my 302 and the bolt broke inside the block. Will a machine shop help me on this? I was torquing at 105 and the bolt kept on turning until it broke. This sucks big time.

Is the bolt broken below the surface of the block? It might turn out quite easily just using a center punch and hammer. If not, then it might have to be drilled out and a machine shop would probably be the best.
The main bearing cap bolts on a 302 are supposed to be torqued to 60-70 ft.lbs which would be why it broke. If you had the rest of them torqued down above that I would replace them all as they have stretched from overtightening.

Make sure you also get the correct bolt torques for the rest of the engine. Looks like you got the torque spec for a 351W. The torque specs are different for the 302.

Yep. My torque specs were completely wrong. The Machine shop was able to remove the bolt and it cost me 60 bucks. I went ahead and had them order me new bolts sense I attempted to torque them the same way.

I've got a 302 that has bearing knock from my idior bro-in-law... He looked at the torque specs (in the neighborhood of 25ftlbs) and said "That's not tight enough!" and torqued them all to 70.....
