2001 ranger won't start

hi i put a new fuel pump in the wifes ranger 6 months ago, but the check engine light came on, so i had her take it to autozone they said it said a bad connection what ever that means, i checked everything all the connections
to do with the fuel system, but it always started untill now, i went to the store this morning and on the way home it quit running, i got it towed home and i started to try and figure out what is wrong i sprayed gas in the air intake tube and it started , then i tried spark and i have spark but you turn the key on and you can't hear fuel pump, somehow something is sending a signal to the fuel pump not to send gas i guess can someone please help me thanks alot

First, welcome to FTE!!!

If you can't hear the fuel pump running, you need to determine if it is getting power. Test for 12V at the connector on top of the fuel tank if possible (when turning the key on). If there is 12V, then the problem is probably the pump. If there is no 12V, then trace back and check things like the inertia fuel cut-out switch, fuel pump relay, etc. .
