Can someone validate this question?? Is my 2004 Powerstroke 5 speed an Allison product?? I thought Ford makes it but a friend said that GM makes it for Ford

That is absolutely false; it was designed and engineered by Ford and Ford only.
Isn't it a copy of the Allison ?
Wasn't there some suits filed for copyright infringement ?
or just more 'net rumours ?
The only thing I am aware of that they have in common is a two-speed planetary. The VFS valving is quite different, IMO nowhere near a copy...
However, I can assure you that the TS will withstand the same physical punishment as the Allison (after the bugs are ironed out)- the TS's input, output shafts and torque converters are exceptionally strong. Both transmissions lack high performance holding power in primary drive and overdrive gears.
ok , thanks ...just some 'net yakking I heard once ...I do not doubt the TS tranny ...I'm loving mine , really makes the big grades in N.Idaho seem like lil hills ...
the Allison 2000 is used in the F650 series ...

FYI: It's not the same Allison used in the Chevy/GMC pickup

It is kinda funny that Ford made sure that the Torqueshift had the same gear ratios for every gear.... The only gear that isn't the same is the reverse gear, it is kinda a copy cat.
