Wont engage reverse when on an uphill

Wont engage reverse when on an uphill
When im at about an 35* incline, my man. trans will not allow my 82' to go into reverse. I have bene able to but only when I slam it into gear, and that is only some of the time. Any thoughts bout this?

It's not reverse, its the fact that the driveline is under load and is bound up, your tying to take it out of a bind which happens when trying too take the tranny out of park.
Try using your e-brake, and it will help.

I do have to put it into 1st gear b4 everytime that I put it into reverse to stop engine from spinning. I will try the Ebrak sugesstion. It sounds liek that could be it. I dont do a lot of off road hill climbing, but say I was and need to get into reverse in a hurry and i was on an incline...? Could there be anything else?
