I am assuning that you are talking about the Mustang engines? Bone stock, the Speed-Density cars were a little faster because the stock MAF was only 55mm and actually restricted airflow to the stock 60mm TB.
But if you are going to add better heads, larger cam, etc, a MAF system with a C&L 73mm MAF will run much better. The MAF can adapt the the added airflow thru the engine as to where the Speed-Density system can not.
Also, the Mustang and Lincoln Mark VII use a SEFI system which fires each injector separately where as the standard 5.0 such as a truck, t-bird/Cougar, towncar, Crown Vic, etc use a batch fired system that fires one bank at a time.
