1988 trans question

I am considering buying a 1988 bronco II four wheel drive. for 900$ The thing i am concerned about is the trans. I need to pull a small 5x8 trailer, with a mower, with it. i have been reading and noticed that these trans are the weak links. Any idea how it will hold up to pulling a small trailer a coule times a week during the summer??
