Alright here goes again...94 Bronco, 5.8 EFI, E40D. Just put a new engine in it 4 days ago and the problems of missing and dying when cold are back. I replaced the engine due to a seized oil pump and metal shavings in the oil pan. I have replaced the TB, Dist, New headers, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, sensors and filters...all within the last 3 months. I did notice that the ECM has a FOMOCO remanufactured sticker on it, don't know if this has anything to do with it. I am getting good fuel pressure and volume. The engine just stumbles and misses when cold and I have to keep my foot in it until it warms up, then she runs fine, that is until I shut it down for 5 min or more, than we are back to stumbling and stalling. I am at my wits end and have run through 3500 bucks in the past few months on this...I am not getting any trouble codes and the scanner shows no problems. Could somebody have replaced the ECM with the wrong one? Is there anyway to find out exactly which ID ECM was originally in the Bronco? Anyway to test the ECM? I am stumped as are the FOMOCO mechanics as well as 15 other shops in the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
i dont know if this will help but I had a ranger that did some of the same things and I got the fuel system cleaned out and it stoped doing alot of the thiungs. like the stumbling and runing rought tull it warms up. I think it was only about 80 bucks to have it done.
