hard starts when hot
I've got a 76 f150 with a 360 and a motorcraft 2150, it's starts ok when it's cold, but after it's warmed up it's really hard to start or won't start at all. It cranks but won't fire, and if it does it will backfire out of the carb like it's flooded. The idle doesn't come down after it gets warmed up either.

My first thought is the choke is sticking and flooding the engine during hot starts. Turn the choke spring housing (clockwise) to lean out the choke "on" time after the engine is warm and see if the idle will settle down.
Another possibility would be a vacuum leak. That will cause the hard starts, backfiring through the carb and the high idling. But if you know it is rich, check the choke first.
