a electric fan setup on these trucks? My '99 Mustang GT had an electric fan on it from the factory. I figured the truck would have had one too.
This is a question I have wondered about for quite sometime. I have a few theories of my own as to why they might have done this, but I have never found out the exact reason why. Anyone know Ford's reasoning behind this one?
Generally speaking, a pickup motor usually works quite a bit harder than a car motor, and I'd bet that Ford wants something that is long lasting and tough.
I guess if the clutch goes out on a fan, it usually results in the fan continually running where as failure of an electric motor results in no fan at all.
Surely an electric setup would be nice, though. Free up a little power.
Add a little extra to the mpg too. There are several companies that make bolt in kits. Shouldn't be too hard too adapt a univeral kit either and it would be less expensive. Anybody know what the cfm on the stock setup is?
With all the mags regularly slamming the 150's power in comparison to other trucks, I figured ford would have had an electric fan for all the reasons mentioned above. Reduction in parasitic power loss which results in more power to the wheels and a potenial increase in fuel milage. I figured these are two factors that would be very important, so their reason for opting against the electric fan had to have some good logical explanation.
