04-05 towing
OK, The new F-350's can tow 19,200#. So why can't the 04's. My question is "What is the difference?" I know that the 05's have upgraded brakes and the "tow command" system. Other than that the drivetrain is the same less a couple pounds of torque. Does this make the difference? If this were the case then all we would need to do is upgrade our brakes and add the tow command. I have an 04 F-250 SRW w/ 35's and I know my brakes need to be updated in order to tow 12,500#. I guess the root of my question is "What can we do to increase the towing capacity (legally) of our 03-04's." Sorry i havn't posted in a while, but I had my first baby (i.e. my wife), and things have been hectic.

Noticeable difference in; frame... thickest steel in class 10/17% increase in strength, brakes, complete redesign of front end (all coil front), all new steering systems, Dana 60 Front axle, 35-spline raising the GAWR, and a 12.5k receiver hitch...
As too upgrading yours to tow that much....I sure would not do it with 35's...but that is me….What do you tow that is 19.2K?

Thanks for the info Tim. I am not planning on towing 19,000+#, but am planning on towing a 10000# dry weight boat next year. The question was more toward a coworker who was looking at an 04 F-350 Duelly w/ a 6.0. He just asked me what the difference between the two years, and if he could upgrade. I told him the Brake and tow command upgrades, but told him I would ask around for any info. i don't think he will be towing 19,000# either, but like all of us we need something bigger, badder, and able to tow more in order to brag and show off.
