Fairmont axle Questions

Hey guys I got a question. I have a '81 ford Fairmont 4dr and it had a staight six i think it was the 200, but anyways i pulled that all out and dropped in a V-8 but my question is size is the rear axle and if anyone knows what the factory gearing is in it, my plans are to regear it or swap it in a bigger axle, any info would be great thanks!!

It would be a 7.5" as stated, there should be a tag on the diff cover that has the ratio and size (7.5) it should stand up to a mild V8 if you are easy on it and use an automatic but if you are gonna get rough with it get an 8.8" trac lock out of an 87-88 turbocoupe or mustang GT(years??) which will bolt right in although the stang rear is 1-2" narrower.
