hello, just installed the edge juice module, with attitude, i love it . just got it on level 3 the roads was wet here. i could not believe the power increase. is it hard on my truck engine? or trans? i probably will never have it above level 4 . i set my max egt on 1200 f . how about my max boost on 30? does anybody have any suggestions for me ? i don't want to hurt my truck in anyway. it is my daily driver , not much towing ever done.
Do some more digging here about trans tuning and I think you'll find that The Edge box doesn't do anything for the trans. I just ordered the SCMT yesterday and plan to use it for both performance and trans tuning at first but later on I will use the Edge setup like you have for adjustable performance and then use the SCMT strictly to tune the trans. Go over to Motorhaven and order up an SCMT to tune your trans (and check codes as needed)
I think it raises the shift points a bit and also increases the shift firmness. I hope to see mine on Wednesday. Read up on it over at Motorhaven or Superchips. Also Vic_Ferrari (I think that's his name) is a designer of the SCMT 1704 which is one the tuner for our 6.0's. He posts quite frequently in this forum. I'm sure he could answer any questions you have about it.
The SCT will also give you about 5 more psi of boost. It will save your tranny.
Don't change levels freqently. Leave it alone unless your about to tow. I tow in level 3 all the time.
From personal experience: I leave mine in level 3 all the time. But from time to time I like to fly around town smoking some ppl. I notice if I pound on it for a little while in level 3 then flip it up to 5 and take it easy for a bit then slow get in it your shifts will be much better. The tranny allways adapts to your style of driving so beat on it easy for a bit before you start drag racing.
Be forewarned, I got 8000 miles out of my Torqshift with the Edge and Attitude combo. Estimate is 4006.00! I am going with an ATS or someones bulletproof tranny. I drove on level 5 ALWAYS even in the rain. It does pull hard but I would look into some tranny modification whether it be electronic or mechanical. The problem is with the 3-4 shift, it is too long and slip too much. The motor with the edge on level 5 will build too quickly during that delay. I do love the box, the power is incredible. I ran my EGT 1450 at max a few times (I still hit it quickly) get an exhaust if you dont have one.
Are you saying that the tranny on your PSD was damaged? What happened to it? Have you called Edge to see what they have to say about it? Did Ford cover it under warranty?
I was 2000 (38000 total) miles over the warranty and since I was the second owner, they couldnt/wouldnt help at all. I have not called Edge yet, nor do I expect anything from them. The price of speed is high at times. The clutch in the TC is fried as are the clutches in the transmission. I have taken the box off for a while til I get the tranny parts (which I cant seem to find any online). It still runs but the tranny will slip if I nail the pedal, it will also shift down all by itself above 60 mph with no reason or warning. The tranny does look pretty easy to rebuild, I just want bulletproof parts for next time. Alto Red Eagle clutches, triple disc TC and a valve body to eliminate the delays in the shifts.
The Edge does have some limited transmission adjustments. There are defueling, decreasing torque during shift points which allows the torque converter clutch to lock. It's supposed to cause less wear on the tranny. You have to have the Juice controller in cab for this.
Clint does some really good work at ATS!! Used his tranny on my 600hp Duramax and the diff was night and day!! HP is not cheap in the oil burners because at some point the weakest link gives and in high HP is is the tranny! Been there done that!
