Emil, how cold was it where your daughter was? Where I work, it frequently gets down to -5 and -10 degrees and I haven't had any gelling problems. I am using summer diesel too since this is what my supplier uses in the equipment here. I haven't used any additives either. That's why I was figuring on the air intake buildup but your right, I would think it would show on the restriction gauge.
OVALTRACK
Did you know standyne also makes a 8 oz. bottle called one shot it treats 30 gal.very handy dump one bottle every fill up.
Do you have the P/N? I thought that was Lucas that had the 8oz.. I've seen it but never used it since my owners manual stated to use Stanadyne. Maybe it's not a gel problem but a algea problem? Perhaps she filled up with some old fuel, that could be an issue too. Or maybe change the fuel filters at 15,000 miles.

She left the Chicago area this morning with horse trailer in tow heading out to the Denver area but her $44K truck was only able to make it to western Nebraska, about 4 hours short of her destination . Fortunately she made it to a large truck stop and she will be able to stay overnight there but she is scheduled to pick up a recovering horse and bring it back to Chicago. The large truck mechanic figures it's the filter but doesn't have one that size to replace it so she has to wait till morning to get it towed. No storms this time and I think the temps are above freezing.
Rant time.
You think that the local dealer could have replaced the fuel filter as a precaution? Can this truck be trusted again? She's been lucky so far that it's broken down in pretty good spots, should she have to take this sort of risk? I'm more SNIP at the dealer (Wickstrom Ford) that they couldn't do more to try to fix it in the first place. Fortunately the warranty is still in effect but by just a few thousand miles, can she afford to have them not fix it again and have it break down in no mans land and be out of warranty or most importantly put her in a life threatening situation? This is ridiculous!

Well,
A dealer in Denver is repairing it, they are replacing 2 injectors. What do you guys think, do you think that that is the major problem or just something else wrong with it. I mentioned the wiring harness and the service guy insured me that she would have no problems. She'll be making a 1000 mile haul back here, I'm real nervous.
Comments please,
Thanks
It all depends on how good a diesel tech is working on it. They won't replace injectors that aren't bad. They must be tested. Two bad injectors would cause a major problem. Make sure she uses fuel additive like Stanadyne. It is available at most big rig stations.
