fog lights

aiight. i have a problem w/ my fog lights. they dont work any more, the switch on the dash lights up when i turn it on, and i know the fuse isnt bad.

so i went under the truck ( by the way it's a 94 ranger w/ 4.0 4wd power everything) and grabbed the continuity tester, and touched it to the white wire, and the light went off on both sides. but i tryed the black wires on both sides and neither are getting power. any ideas on what's the culprit? thanks

Look under the hood and see if you can find a box with a bunch of relays in it. Somewhere under there you should be able to find a foglamp relay. Get someone to flick the switch back and forth while you see if the relay is clicking. Make sure you have your lowbeams on when trying it, or they won't work.

I looked this one up in my Haynes manual earlier & found fuse #15 under the hood but no relay.
With the switch lighting up, that should confirm the fuse ? or is it powered separately & the fuse needs to be tested ?

well in the fuse box relay its a #20 fuse. im pretty sure it's not the fuse, do you think it has something to do w/ a ground? cuz one of the wires is getting power of the other isnt

and no, i've been filling up the blinker fluid quite regularly lately!

OK, good, the fluid's topped up, so, how about making up a new ground wire & going straight to the frame with it ?

I am surprised it doesn't have a relay. Does it have an extra set of contacts in the headlight switch? If it's factory, it will have to be fed by the headlight switch somehow, since it's not legal in some parts of the country for them to come on by themselves(controlled by the foglamp switch only). I don't have a good enough set of diagrams for that year truck to see what's going on, but most other models have a relay somewhere.
