Before I got "Into" aerostars I remember seeing at least one or two with an overhead piece. If i remember right it had a place to store sunglasses, a clock or possibly a trip computer of some sort, maybe some little map lights. Anyway, mine just has the two map lights/door light above our heads. So i wonder 2 things...
1. What is in this piece exactly? my memory is sketchy. Is it a little mpg/odometer or just a clock?
2. is there a wire harness there if I want to install one.
It would nice to have overhead storage. I installed 2 aftermarket gauges where the ashtray was, there is a cb in the little cubby under that, and the thing between the seats is Gone. I hated that piece
Mine is a 93 4.0 2wd. What is this overhead thing called and what year did they come in? (to ask the salvage yards.)
They are in the Eddie Bauer Aerostars, there is a lot to them, including MPG and miles to empty if I remember correctly. I think they will only work with the Digital dash. I could have gotten one for $20 or $25, but it looked like the install was much more than I'd want to get into, if I could even get it to work. I'm looking at the overhead consol in the F-150. It has a digital thermometer, and compass. A place for the garage door opener and eyeglasses. Does anyone know if there is a bracket or strut above the headliner to attach this to. Pictures of the inside roof would be great, if any one has an Aero with no headliner.
hmmm...even if i don't have all the sensors it's ok
It's a possible place to put more of the aftermarket gauges I already have for it. I'm already running out of room for the gauges and extra switches i've already installed on it.
Where can I get more info or possibly a pic. or a diagram of what it has/does up there. I'm very much want to hear from someone who has one or knows where to get more info. thanks in advance.
The module uses only three "data" inputs....Fuel gauge sender, Vehicle Speed Sensor and the EEC Module. These are all available on my XL without digital dash.
I am currently upgrading from a 90 Eddie Bauer to a 91 XL. I am moving all of the "convenience" goodies (power doors, windows, etc.). The trip minder module is also going into the 91. The wiring harness for the trip minder plugs into the "trip minder" module which is located in the housing of the unit. The harness also serves the two lights in the housing and has take-offs to the lighted vanity mirrors. The other end of the harness plugs into the main harness under and behind the dash. I am going to have to splice that plug from my Eddie Bauer into the main harness of the 91. I will try to provide some pics as this project goes along.
