I have a 2001 Ranger, xlt, 4.0 4x4. With the power side mirrors, the drivers side mirror is loose, not the mount just the mirror part. Is there some way to tighten this without taking the door panel apart and removing the whole thing? I have searched the forum and didn't get any hits. It would seem that a wrench might fit if the mirror was moved to one side or the other, but I don't want to compound a simple problem.
NOTE: Exterior mirror glass is serviceable only on vehicles built after July of 2001.
All mirrors
1. Position the glass in the full up position.
2. Locate the notch at the bottom of the exterior mirror glass.
3. Release the exterior mirror glass:
a. Insert a long flat-bladed screwdriver in the notch.
b. Push the screwdriver into the notch until the glass is released.
Heated mirrors
4. Position aside the exterior mirror glass.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
All mirrors
6. Remove the exterior mirror glass
Installation
Heated mirrors
1. Connect the electrical connectors.
All mirrors
2. Position the exterior mirror glass on the exterior mirror motor.
3. Place a hand against the back of the exterior mirror housing and a hand flat against the exterior mirror glass. Press the glass in place until fully seated.
Thanks for the info, So, I just place a hand on the mount, and the press my hand on the glass and it should tighten up? Sorry if this seems simple but I figured I would fix this myself, if I could.
