I recently put front brakes & rotors on my 85' F-150. Since i put them in i get a bad vibration in the front end. I was on the highway doing about 60 mph & at 45 mph it started vibrating till it got down to 30-35 mph. Normal driving its fine. I also had the tie rod changed as well as wheels aligned & balanced. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Do you get the shake while you brake or just driving down the road? If when braking I suspect warped rotors, but if driving only you may want to check your front end or even the possibility of a caliper seizing. Also a wheel weigth or two may have come off.
It only shakes while braking....these are new rotors & the wheels were balanced. The only thing i didnt change were the calipers...is this a sympton of failing calipers??
never seen it, but maybe the rotors didn't sit straight on there or somethin? sure sounds like warped rotors. if it were me i'd pull the wheels and check out those rotors, spin the rotor on the hub and watch for wobble against a fixed point.
I have to ask if your emergency brakes work? If so go down the road on some quiet street and stop with just your emergency. See if it vibrates but please make sure know one is around. You may have warped drums in the rear OR seizing emergency cable.
If rears are good then I have to go back to the front rotors or a seizing caliper but if that was the case you would have a brake pull.
Before you go spending money on anything else, bleed your brakes. Shaking while braking is usually a sign of air in the system as well as warped rotors or glazed pads. Since your rotors and pads were just replaced, go with a good brake bleed before you spend anymore money. If you already did that and didn't mention it, then you could start looking at your calipers, but if the shaking wasn't there before you changed your brakes, it's unlikely it's your calipers now. Good luck with it, hope you find the problem..

It's been my experience when new pads are installed, and the piston in the caliper has to be pushed back up in the caliper with a c-clamp, there is a 50-50 chance they will stick, because usually the bore is rusted behind the piston.
