Intercooler?

I've got a 94 IDI Turbo Diesel and I'm installing a 3" Turbo Outlet housing and 3" downpipe w/ 4" pipe after that this weekend. Hopefully that will add a few ponies.
Anyway, later on I was thinking about installing an intercooler. They're right around $1000.00 but are they worth it? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Intercoolers do work ! They are used to cool the charged air (pressurized by the turbo) and helps to get more air into the cylinder. There isnt a class 8 tractor on the highway without an intercooler. I do believe there are kits out there for the ford pickups. You will have to shop around ... try ATS.

you can probably get by pretty easy if you install a 99+ powerstroke system. if you move the fuel filter. you might be able to find one for cheaper call around to the local junk yards.

I got an intercooler off of a superduty from ebay for $200, they will work in the 93-97 trucks with a little modification to the radiator support. the stock intercooler tubes will even work, but they need to be lengthened by about 4". Go over to the powerstroke forum and do a search, since your truck is the same as many of the powerstrokes, and they weren't originaly equipped with an intercooler it is a popular mod.
