intersesting events involving MPG
After 155,000 miles, I know my truck pretty well. Last weekend, I pulled the plugs to check them (running old style copper right now). I cleaned them and reinstalled them. I filled up Monday and noticed that day, by watching the fuel gauge, my MPG was down. I filled up again and after driving about 500 miles found I was down about 2 mpg.
Wednesday afternoon, I stopepd to fill up and while there, checked under the hood. Nothing knocked loose, no vacuum lines off. Nothing leaking on the MAC intake. Nothing out of the ordinary.
I twisted the sparkplug wire caps where the snap onto the plugs and made sure all were seated properly.
Immediately gained 2 MPG right back.
Went from 16.5-17 mpg, back up to 18.5 -19.
Seems like I might have had one or more high resistance connections where the plug wires snap onto the plugs.
Whatever it was, I thought it was worth mentioning.
