Dumb question about Bumps ?

I was told that the only dumb question was one that's not asked. So here's my question. I have noticed in some replies to threads that a person will type "bump". What does that mean? I see it here and in other forums as well. I am rather new to forums in general and I don't know the "jargon" so to speak.
Can someone tell me what "bump" means?
Thanks.
Richard

It means they want to Bump the thread back to the top of the order (forum) because it was getting closer to page 2 of the forum and they wanted a better chance to get a reply.
