How do you know when u-joints have gone bad? Or, what are some signs of them going bad? Sometimes when I put it in reverse I hear a click or even sometimes if I'm ridin along and left off the gas and hit it again I'll hear click and it kinda fills like the drive shaft has lil play

It's possible there a little play, but not likely the u-Joints are going bad. how many miles on it? FWIW, ours has done that since new.
I've had mine in the shop two times for that. The first time it went away after they had it so I'll have to dig out the service receipt to see what they did.
After I took it in for my new rear diff it came back to me making that same noise. They (the Ford shop on the other side of the island) did something to "fix" it but it didn't work. It still made the noise right as I drove it off the lot.
I haven't been back for fear that they'll not give it back for 3 weeks like before...
I'll dig up the Srevice Receipt and see what Ford shop #1 did to rectify it. I need to anyway so that I can take it to Ford shop #2 so they can fix it right...
I have about 43000 miles and it also did it since new. I had been so busy trying to get all of the other problems fixed, that I let that one slip through the cracks. I have actually looked at get another truck but, I love the third row folding away.
