Talking No ignition spark

ok all. i have an 89 302EFI 4-speed, and it doesn't have spark anywhere. I have already nickel and dimed it to pieces replacing the coil, suppressor, stator, and Ignition control module. My initial trouble code was a 14, PIP failure, and it just craped out right before christmas. Im on a low buget and wonder if I should go ahead and replace the PCM or take it to, I dare say, the Ford dealer, or some rinky dink garage to have them diagnos it. I unwraped all the wiring under the hood to find a short, burn, anything, and found nothing. what should I do? Is it worth taking to somebody and they tell me pcm or just replace it and hope for the best?
Thanks for any advice
Evan

A code 14 is translated as "The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) has detected an intermittent loss of Profile Ignition Pick-up (PIP) signal during recent operation. The "Profile Ignition Pick-up signal is a frequency type, providing crankshaft position and speed information. The ECA uses PIP as a reference to create properly timed ignition system and fuel injector signals. The PIP signal comes from a sensor mounted in the distributor (TFI-IV ignitions). The 14, intermittent loss of PIP, could be an ignition module going bad, or possibly a loose spout connection. Or the coil could have crapped out on you. Another scenario could be what happened to my 94 f-150, I had 273,000 miles on my distributor and apparently the magnetic pickup was destroyed and wasn’t sending a signal, replaced the distributor and she fired right up. Hope this gives you some options to look at.

I have replaced the magnetic pickup in the distributor, and still nothing. I'm thinking about a new distributor because when I put it back together the part that goes through the pickup, was hitting it and my have grounded it out. Is that possible? And I replaced the TFI module after that. no spark. I cleared the trouble codes and all I get now is 11 repeated. Meaning "system pass".

It will always show code 11, if the engine did not run. you need the engine to run to get codes. I had the same code 14. I went with the new dizzy. It came with a new TFI and PIP. Make sure you use the di-electric grease to the TFI. here is a troubleshoot guide for the TFI.

Going back to spark 101. Have you verified that the distributor is turning?

I had the same problem, and it turned out that one of the power leads that goes through the harnesses mounted on the driver's side fenderwell was broken, inside the connector. It could not be seen with a visual inspection. It was only after looking at a bunch of other stuff and then chasing leads that we found it. It took a while to find it, as it was not nearly the first thing that one would check in this situation.

Thanks for the troubleshooting guide. I will use it for sure. I have now replaced the dizzy and still nothing. No spark that is. I have found the problem I hope though. After chasing wires out of frustration, I found one wire, (white/lt. blue) that runs from the ignition switch, to the coil and the TFI mod. It pulled right out of the plug sitting on the drivers fenderwell. So I hope I can cancel the order I made for a new ecm. Thanks for your help! I have verified that the dizzy shaft is turning thank goodness!!!

Good news-Its running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! I finally found the problem. Hidden inside the plugs on the inner fenderwell drivers side. Just spliced around it altogether. Thanks for all of the help!!! I'll post a gallery soon.
