oil temperature light on

oil temperature light on
2001 F-150 w/43000 miles..when started cold oil temp light on when engine warms up oil temp light out and temp gage goes to normal..when engine rpm increased oil temp light comes back on and temp gage goes all the way up..however engine temp is normal...codes say ect sensor..however engine has plug where books say sensor is...help...thanks
