Help with some mods

I just ordered some stuff for my 2001 F 250 5.4L. Throttle body 75mm, TB spacer, Underdrive Pullies, Cat back Exhaust, and Hypertech programmer. Lao considering injectors. What is the stock numbers 15? and how high would you go?

Also, How much lift can i go without lengthening drive shaft? Old rule of thumb was 4". does this still apply. Oh ya regular cab. if it matters

Injectors will not do anything for you, you are going to need to do a lot more stuff before you come close to maxing out the stock injectors. Most guys with superchargers just up the fuel pressure a little. You will be lucky to feel much differnce in power with all the stuff you are going to put on. You can get more then 4in. of lift out of the Super Duty on the stock shafts.

wow 6" that is incredible. I have a new set of Cooper Discovery SST's i think SST's they are 285's witch should be like 33's correct? They would look pretty silly with 6" of lift.

You dont think I will notice anything after putting in the Hypertech and the 75mm Throttlebody and pully's? Well we own a small (10 trucks) trucking company, so its all right off anyway. I wont mess with the injectors, but may look into a cam. THx guys

I cant believe it, your saying that a cat-back system, hypertech programmer, t-body spacer and bigger t-body will not make a noticable change! Thats sick! So all this stuff that your buying is gonna cost you about a grand and get you not a dang thing in added performance? Why do they sell this stuff? Its all supposed to add 10 or 15 HP alone, you would thik if you did it all you should get 30-40 HP all together anyway. So what a lamer this is. Is this really true, nothing noticeable after spending a grand on performance stuff?

All the numbers that are advertised are "dyno theoretics", perfect conditions. Dyno numbers are great, but what's more important is what it does to driveability. With my programmer for example, the biggest difference I notice is the transmission firmness. The exhaust, just sounds cooler. The K&N was actually the best thing I noticed, quicker throttle response and sliiiiiiiiightly better mileage. The bigget t-body and space may give you some extra power, can't really say, but unless you open up the intake a little, the extra opening won't do much. It's like getting a bigger mouth and still only having 2 hands, can't pick up more to stuff in.

Want a real performance increase, dump the little crap. Get supercharger and a decent catback kit and fuhgetaboutit. I put a powerdyne on my silverado. HOLY *&^%. You could break all 4 tires loose. Let me make sure before I get blasted, no I don't have the silverado anymore, I traded it in for the SD V-10. I hated the 4l60e in that thing. It fell on it's face when it hit 2nd gear.

You will notice a difference, espescially if you ever go back to stock. BFR250sd is right though, a supercharger will be the best bang for the buck. That will probably be the next on my list, but I wish I had just bitten the bullet and put one on first thing.

What about those granetteli mass air sensor things for like 400 bucks? Is that thing going to help? What if I did all that this guy doing minus the pulley swap but did the mass air sensor as well, am I gonna gain much over his change? Is the mas air thing a waste?

You can do the same thing as a granatelli by descreening the MAF. If you look at it, it has a honeycomb type screen, just take it out. Presto, a little more air. Emphasis on a little. Becareful not to break anyof the probes.

etcetera,

I liked the supercharger, but will never get another powerdyne. Had to do all kinds of mount mods to get it fit right, and I still couldn't get the belt tight enough. At about 4,000 - 4,500 rpm that thing would start screeching something fierce. I think when I get back from Afghanistan I'm gonna drop the Ford factory supercharger on the V-10. See how that wakes it up.

Well tonight I put in the TB spacer and the Hypertech 87 octane program, and i think it made a big differance. Going to run out the fuel tomorrow put in the good stuff and reprogram it to the higher setting. Should be great. Leaveing my buddies house it was pretty much all over the road.

NOTICE: BBK sales a 75mm Throttle body for this truck and it is WRONG! The throttle linkage is basically upside down. They are aware of the problem and are in the process of correcting it. A company called MAC makes on and from the picture it should be correct.

Also, went to summit tonight and picked up the 4 inch pro comp suspention lift. Should make for a long evening tomorrow. WOO HOO!

I agreee with BFR250SD, speaking from experience I learned the hard and expensive way. I have a 2001 F250 V10 and did many of the bolt on mods all of which claimed to add x amount of horsepower. I had the bigger throttle body, granatelli mass air sensor, Banks power pack kit, K&N FIPK and some other small add-ons, all of which turned out to be a big disappointment. My quest for more power ended with the addition of a Kenne Bell supercharger. Though expensive, I wasted a lot of money on the other things because I ended up having to go back to using all of the stock components. A supercharger is definitely your best "bang for the buck". I'm not saying that all the other mods mentioned don't do anything, it just wasn't the increase I was looking for. I love the supercharger, definitely a "seat of the pants" difference, HUGE gains.

Kennebf250v10,

You hit the nail on the head brother. I put al the little mods on and just had to take most of them back off to install the s-chgr. E-bay is great forgetting rid of the stuff though. I figure I probably installed and removed well over $1K in parts before I finally said screw it and got the s-chgr. That was on the chebbie, and it still towed like a dog. How do you like it on the V-10. That's probably gonna be my next big mod when I get back.

I am lookig to increase the performance on my 05 5.4l. I am guessing that adding a supercharger will not be a good idea as long as under the factory warranty. Any thoughts?
