"89 BII 4x4 RABS..... So the RABS light's been on for 2 years with no real problems, brakes worked right until a minor slick spot on the road, no biggie. Took it in to have the brakes checked out. New pads, shoes, turned drums, rotors were still good. Now my rear driver's side brake sticks after a hard stop. It used to do that a little, but rocking it a little would free it up. Today it happened and I drove it about 1/4 mile and I could smell the lining burning. Finally it let go, the smell went away with no noticable change in pedal feel, pulling or braking. My question is..... what's the most likely problem? Wheel cylinder? Broken spring? Bad fluid? The mechanic said he checked everything out and was able to reuse most of it and said he test drove it making hard stops forward and back to seat the new pads/shoes. Today (the next day) it's messing up already. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, RC
you need to adjust it there is a small black rubber plug in the back take it out and use a small screw driver or brake adjuster tool and start clicking
if i remember correctly you move it up and it get farther away and if you move it down it get closer etc..
Looks like I need a new RABS valve. Quite a bargain at only $274 (incl. core chg.) from the local FORD dealer. If I can't find one from a salvage yard, I'll just bypass it with brake lines.
