i have a 1984 F-350 with a 460 big block. do you guys know if it came with a p.o.s. venturi carb? or the Holley carb? i think i need to get a remanufactured carb, but the cheapest i have seen is around $300.
It came with a Holly Model #4180. You can get a 750 cfm Holly #4160 for $284 at advance auto parts. You could also go with an Edelbrock #1406 600 cfm for $274 at Advance auto parts also. shop around.

Some are stock replacement and some are not. The product discription will tell you. Go to edelbrocks or holly's website and look up the number for reman units then go to summit or jegs or any other parts house and look at the reman price. a reman carb is about $100.00 cheaper.
I like Edelbrock performers because they only have 2 pieces to the whole body. No power jet to blow out in case of backfire. Easy to rebuild and easy to set.
im looking at the edelbrock 1406 in summit racing, and it looks like the Performer series. is it? i have the performer series on my old dodge truck. is the 1406 the one that will bolt directly to my truck?
if you have the stock holley the edelbrock will bolt to your stock intake IMHO the stock replacement Holley wich around here anyway run about the same price as the Edelbrock is the way to go look at the air horn on your carb (the part where the choke is) it will have a list # that is the identification number or model number of your carb the go to the web site of choice and look it up
with the Edelbrock 1406 carburetor, it is listed as (non-emission). im guessing that means its not smog legal. i know the edelbrock carburetors are great, cuz i have a performer series on my dodge. i dont know what model it is, but would i maybe be able to take it off the dodge and put it on the ford?
